About Avi
Avi Klein is the Clinical Director of Downtown Somatic Therapy, a body-based therapy practice in lower Manhattan. He works with adults and couples who are ready to do transformative work, with a particular expertise in men — an area where his writing and interviews have appeared in the New York Times and Men's Health.
Avi's approach is grounded in the belief that working with embodied emotions yields powerful and lasting change. Rather than just talking through problems, he helps clients access and process deeper feelings through the body, working with trauma both big and small, old and recent. His goal is to help people reclaim their vitality and joy in life.
His practice draws on experiential and somatic approaches including AEDP, Somatic Experiencing, Gestalt, and Internal Family Systems.
